In the final seconds, sheer ecstasy erupted for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and provided the stand-in Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, stood a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
